Age 66 of Elmira, NY was called home to our Heavenly Father unexpectedly at home on Saturday, July 5, 2003. James was born April 22, 1937 in Canandaigua, NY.He was predeceased by his father, J. Murray Allyn; mother, Magdeline Young; loving mother, Genivieve Allyn Turner; grandparents, Loren and Genivieve Allyn; and son-in-law, Stephen Felker.He is survived by his former wife of 32 years and special friend, Nancy Allyn of Scotch Plains, NJ; loving children and their spouses, Wendy and Richard McLaughlin of Pine City; Kimberly Allyn, Kelly and Robert Bailey, and James Allyn Jr., all of Elmira; April and Yossi Almakiz of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Scott and Kristina Allyn of Elmira; precious grandchildren, Jeremy and Nicole McLaughlin; Joshua and Kayla Chappell; Heather, Roxanne, and Stephen Felker; Kirsten Bailey; Brian Martin; Autumn Allyn; Nathan and Ashley Good; David and Alice Almakiz; Nicholas Allyn; and Codi Murphy; loving brother, Clifford and Carolyn Allyn and their sons, Michael and Paul Allyn; and many extended family and friends.James was retired from the Elmira Fire Department after 27 years of dedicated service.He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, served 1 year in the Naval Reserves, worked as an EMT for Erway Ambulance for 8 years, was a carpet-layer for 18 years, and he was FISHERMAN #1!He was a beautiful man with a huge heart that consumed the essence of life.He was the best friend to many, a loving father and grandfather, and a very charitable man.He will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 to 4 pm.Funeral services will follow at 4 pm with Rev.
