Darmstadt, James L. age 68, lifelong resident and business owner of the Caton Community, passed away of a broken heart December 24th, 2015.Jim was born in Elmira, NY on February 18th, 1947, the son of the late Leo and Helen (Myers) Darmstadt. He is survived by his loving daughters: Nicole (Ken) Thomas of Caton, Holly (Jay) Burns of Lincoln, DE, and Brooke Darmstadt of Caton; 6 Grandchildren: Sierra, Kaylyn, and Lauren Thomas, Sophia, Jack, and Elise Burns; sisters: Donna (Eugene) White and Kathie Darmstadt; brother: Thomas (Barb) Darmstadt; sister: Sally (Jeff) Dillon; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; mother in law: Averil Carpenter; sister in law: Joyce Preston; and brother in law: John Carpenter. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his wife, Urlee; and father in law: Cecil Roy Carpenter.James owned and operated Darmstadt Well Drilling in Caton, NY for over 40 years. He was an avid card player, hunter, United States Army Veteran, member of the Elks Lodge #1071 of Corning, and the Corning American Legion Post #746. He always felt very lucky to be married to the love of his life, Urlee, for over 40 years. Together they traveled the world. He found great peace knowing that he and Urlee were able to make the wonderful memories they did. He loved spending time with his family, friends and most importantly his grandchildren. At Jim's request, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Corning American Legion Post #746, 8 River Road, Corning, NY. Graveside services will remain private in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY with full military honors accorded. Memorial donations may be made in James L. Darmstadts’ name to the Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14620-2532.
