James E. McGonigalAge 90 Lifetime member of the Pine City community. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Friday, May 29th, 2009. Jim was the son of the late LeRoy and Annetta HoltMcGonigal. He was born in Karthaus, PA May 13th, 1919. He is survived by his lifetime friend, and loving wife of 70 years Ann E. (Kolivoski) McGonigal; Daughters: Evelyn (Richard) Strong, Ruth (Jack) Claridge; Son: James L. (Ann) McGonigal; Daughter: Alma McCoy; Son: Robert L. McGonigal all of Pine City, NY and Son: Les (Pat) McGonigal of Captains Cove, VA; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition Jim isalso missed by his sisters, Jean Troutman, Aredas Lanager, and Brother: GeorgeMcGonigal. He is predeceased by his grandson Scott Judson; granddaughter Lori McGonigal; Son in law: Rod McCoy; Daughter in law: CarlaMcGonigal. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Sunday, May 31st, 2009 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral and committal services will be held there at the conclusion of the gathering hours at 7:00PM. The Reverend Robert Stokes will officiate. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2009 11:00AM at the Oak Hill Cemetery, in Karthaus, PA. To honor Jim's dedication and personal sacrifice to his country, full military honors will be accorded.Jim was best known for being a dedicated family man, loving husband, and friend. He always took the time to have a personal interest into each of his family members lives. He carried a strong work ethic no matter what he was doing. He was an honest and loyal man to all that knew him. Jim proudly served his country in the National Guard and in the ARMY during World War II. He retired from American Bridge Company after many years of dedicated work as a fitter and welder. He was a member of the Fire Police division of the Pine City Fire Volunteer Department, where he served his community. In his past, Jim was an accomplished pitcher and player of local baseball. Loving every aspect of the game its self with no real team favorite. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He always had a beautiful garden. But most of all Jim was always willing to help a family member or friend. His family, and friends will miss him. Those wishing may make memorial donations in James H.
