James M. Hollenbeck, of Pine City, NY passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday evening. August 23, 2014 at the Bath VA CLC.He is survived by his beloved wife Sheila.In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his son, James T. Hollenbeck and daughter, Kimberly A. Benson and her son, Jacob Ross.Also, survived by his brother, William (Mary) Hollenbeck and sister, Loretta (Tom) Cieri; numerous close nieces and nephews.Jim served for 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Watts during the Korean conflict. He was employed by the Elmira City School District as the Head Custodian for 30 years and as a school bus driver for 10 years.Jim was a memberof the Elks Club for many years, and various veteran associations.He enjoyed bowling and golf and was especially proud of building his cottage on Seneca Lake, enjoying time there with family and friends.There will be calling hours at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, August 27th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.Funeral service there at 6:00 PM with Deacon George Welch officiating.Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira on Thursday, August 28th at 11:00 AM with Military Honors accorded at the graveside.
