James A. Sproule

Age 73, went to be with the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Frances L.(Deery) Sproule on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at the Soldiers and Sailors Hospital of Wellsboro, PA.James was born in Corning, NY, March 1, 1940; the son of the late John and Elouise (White) Sproule. Surviving are his five children; daughter: Jamie (Chuck) Bower of Tioga, PA; sons: John (Wanda) Sproule of Tioga, PA; James Jr. and (Pam) Sproule of Pine City, NY; daughter: Kim(Mike) Kinney of Horseheads, NY; son: Kevin (Missi) Sproule of Pine City, NY; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; sister: Evelyn Peckham; sister-in-law: Joyce Ginnan; brothers-in-law: Phil (Tana) Deery and Frank (Angela) Deery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Monday, January 6th, 2014 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. Funeral and committal services will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours at 6:00PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at the Alder Run Cemetery.James was a member of the Wood, Wire, and Metal Lath Union and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union #0277. He is predeceased by his loving wife Frances L. Sproule in 2011, his parents, mother and father in law, brothers in law, and sisters in law. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was tough but fair, and worked hard for all his life to support his family until his retirement in 2002, so he was able to spend more time with his wife.
