Janet E. Hemenway

Age 74, of Herrick Street Elmira, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 22, 2003 at St. Joseph?s Hospital Elmira, NY. She was born June 19, 1929 in Corning, NY. Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, James ?Sam? Hemenway; step-son, Patrick Hemenway; father, Leslie Force; mother, Grace Arnott; step-mother Edna Roe Force. She is survived by her beloved children, John ?Rick? Drozda of Elmira, NY; Michael Drozda also of Elmira, NY; Debra (Roy) McKinney of Ocala, FL; Thomas Drozda of Elmira, NY; step-son, Michael (Linda) Hemenway also of Elmira, NY; sisters, Evelyn Gridley of Corning, NY; Sharon (Dunn) (Constontine) Examus of Gallup, New Mexico; Doris (William) Buchko of Corning, NY; brothers, David Force of Texas; Donald Force of Corning, NY; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors. Janet retired from Thatcher Glass with over 30 years of faithful service in their quality control department. She enjoyed mostly the 10 years as the head cook for Meals on Wheels that was based out of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. The family will hold a private Memorial Service at Uncle Tippy?s Farm on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 2 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 4 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY. Her son-in-law, Pastor Roy McKinney and the Reverend John Bedzyk will officiate.
