ELMIRA - Jay Hoover, 65, of Elmira, NY, passed away in early December after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise Hoover; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber Hoover and Jeff Alexander; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Tammy Hoover; his grandson, Paxton Hoover; his sister, Candace Bertovich; and his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Lisa Hoover; along with several grandpuppies, and a huge group of friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Dean and Patricia Hoover. Jay was born in Ohio, later graduated from Horseheads High School, and worked for many years at Agway, and most recently for Schweizer Aircraft/Sikorsky. Jay had a huge smile and a great sense of humor. He loved cars, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed spending time at the racetrack and attending auto auctions, and had in the past been part of the crew for the Potrzebowski SST Modified Racing Team. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at The Way Center, 132 Oakwood Ave. Elmira Heights, NY 14903 on Friday, December 17, at 2pm.
