Jeannette R. Brown

Age 91, of Millerton, PA, passed away Saturday, April 15th, 2006 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Jeannette was born in Cleveland, OH on June 13, 1914, the eldest child of Reginald W. and Viola E. L. (Proudfoot) Westlake. On September 12, 1934 she married Thomas C. Brown, who predeceased her on May 9, 2002. She was also predeceased by a sister, Virgeline Eighmey; brother, Reginald Westlake; son-in-law, Charles Weir; grand son, Russell Brown, Jr.; step grandson, Matthew Flagg. She is survived by sons, Russell (Shirley) Brown and Douglas F. (Charlotte) Brown of Millerton, PA, Thomas (Bernadette) Brown of Wellsboro, PA; daughters, Joanne C. Weir and Barbara J. Fisher of Millerton, PA; sister, Alice Stowell of Elmira; brother, Robert Westlake of Millerton, PA; also 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great step grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeannette was a homemaker preferring to make her career caring for her family. She was a member of the Millerton Fireman?s Auxiliary and was a Chaperone at the Fireman?s Dances held during the 60?s. Jeannette was content with the simple things in life, always had a listening ear and inquiring mind. She was best known for her never-ending sense of humor, sharp wit, and ability to make others laugh. An avid bird-watcher, reader of non-fiction, and local history. The legacy she left her family was her extensive genealogical research. Family and friends are invited to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Wednesday, April 19th, 2006 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. Funeral and committal services will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours at 6:00PM. The Reverend Douglas Hodge will officiate.
