Williams, Jeraldine "Jeri" (Chandler), Elmira, "Forever 42" died peacefully with family on Thursday September 4, 2014 after an extended illness with recent complications.Jeri grew up in Chemung/Elmira and graduated from the old, old Southside High School. While raising 4 children Jeri volunteered on many levels including classroom parent, den mother, girl scout leader and cook at Camp Seneca, the old Boy Scout camp.At home, summers were spent gardening and canning ; winters baking and cooking, all in massive quantities and shared with the many people she loved.When the kids got older Jeri went to work as a nurse's aide at the old Arnot Hospital.She had found her calling and loved this so much she returned to school later in life to become a Registered Nurse.She then worked as an Emergency Room nurse at Arnot until her retirement in 1992.Jeri was a very caring and kind person with a deep love of God. She cherished life, had a sharp tongue and a sharper wit.She will be missed.Jeri is survived by 4 children and their families David of NY, Robert of CA, Linda of CA and Susan (with whom she lived) of NY.Special grandson Matt (Becca) with children Camron, Miranda and Rylan of NY.Sisters Norlene of NY, Vivian of NH. She was predeceased by brother BIll of CA.It was Jeri's wishes to have what she called a "burn & blow" so there will be no calling hours.A celebration of her life will be held at the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. on Sunday, September 14 at 1 PM with Pastor Bill Vallet officiating.All who loved Jeri are welcome, come as you are. Twice blessed are those who knew her, thrice blessed who called her friend.The family would like to thank all who have been involved with Jeri's care through the years especially Dr. Rupik and staff, Gerould's Southside and most recently the nurses and clinical assistants at Arnot 3C.May God Bless You All.
