Jerome F. Dickerson

November 18, 1935 — April 19, 2013

Age 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Jerry was born February 7, 1937 in Elmira to Frank and Rosella Mercer Dickerson. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Beverly Perry Dickerson, and their five children, Douglas (Dorene) Dickerson of Watertown, Laura (Lawrence) Detrick of Wellsburg, Lisa (Rick) Rosekrans of Hammondsport, Dawn and Danny Dickerson-Braund of Elmira, and Helen (Jeff) Borden of Bentley Creek, PA along with numerous loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, William Dickerson, and sisters Dorothy Norton, Mary Beauman, and Betty Austin, and his longtime buddy, Joby Leonard, along with many other dedicated friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert Dickerson, his sister, Evelyn Ames and his granddaughter, Michelle Dickerson. Jerry was always proud of his service in the U.S. Marines which enabled him to tour the world. Although he retired as a truck driver, his lifetime passions were farming and tractor pulls. There will be a private memorial service at Woodlawn National Cemetery and a celebration of Jerry's life on April 26, 2013 at the Pine Croft Golf Course in Centerville, PA at 5:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. Elmira/Southport, NY.
