JOHN M. Jack BENSON Of Pine City, NYAge 82, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Survived by wife, Patricia Benson; daughter, Susan Ammann; grandsons, Michael and Steven Ammann; cousins, Janet Beck, of Marietta, GA; Ruth (Elmer) Crowder of Williston, FL; also survived by mother and father in-law, Donald and Bernadine Brown, Pine City, NY; sister in-law, Diane (Garry) Kreger of Athens, PA. Jack is predeceased by mother, Bess M. Gerould; brother, Dr. Raymond L. Benson. Jack was a World War II Veteran having served in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy, were Jack earned two Purple Hearts. He retired as the sole owner of Benson, Jessup & Knapp. He was the co-founder and life member of the Lake-Wood Sportsmens Club Jolly Boys. Jack was a member of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division-Upstate New York Chapter, a lifelong member of the NRA, member of BPOE #1148 Sayre, PA, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3581, Titusville, FL, member of Loyal Order of Moose #1835, New Smyrna, Beach, FL, member of VFW Post # 1536, Sayre, PA, American Legion Post # 0442 Horseheads, NY, Wellsboro Veterans Club, Wellsboro, PA, Arnot Sportsmens Association, Arnot, PA. Member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM with Funeral Service Wednesday Morning at 11:00 AM in the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY. Reverend William Vallet will officiate, followed by graveside service in Woodlawn Cemetery.
