John O. Burdick

Was born September 2, 1939 in Oneida, NY the son of the late Harold and Mildred (Palmer) Burdick, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving and caring family at the age of 67. His brother, Harold Burdick also predeceased him. John is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 26 years, Cheryle (Benson) Burdick; beloved children, Christina McWhorter, Brian Burdick, Mark Burdick, John Burdick all of Millerton, PA; Matt Berrie of Tioga, PA; Tracy Carl of Elmira Heights, NY; Shane Burdick and Sandra Burdick both of Elmira, NY; step-child, Stacy Benson of Los Angels, CA; sisters, Beverly Smith and Barbara Wetherbe both of Lawrenceville, PA; Kathy Cornell of Ithaca, NY; brothers, Elwin Burdick and Donald Burdick both of Corning, NY; along with 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Burdick was a lifetime fireman at the Southport Volunteer Fire Department # 14 and served as Captain of the Fire Police. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, September 28, 2006 from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral services honoring Johns life will be held there following the visitation. (5 PM) The Reverend James Ellis will celebrate the service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Woodlawn Cemetery Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830 or the Falck Cancer Center 600 Roe Ave. Elmira, NY 14905 in his memory.
