Of Millerton, PA passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Broad Acres Nursing Home, after an extended illness. He was born on October 13, 1923 in McIntyre, PA.John served in the United States Army during World War II with the 284th Engineer Battalion. He participated in Ardennes, Central Europe, and Rhineland. His administrative activities as a Combat Engineer were to build bridges. John was awarded the Bronze Star for leading the evacuation of injured infantry soldiers in Germany on April 26, 1945. After his army career, John became a successful farmer in Tioga County, PA.He is survived by Iva Jean Busia, his wife of 55 years; his children, Mary Ellen (Bruce) Hotler of Millerton, PA, Nicholas (Linda) Busia of Carnegie, PA, Bruce (Susan) Busia of Millerton, PA, Teresa (Thomas) Kurtz of Williamsport, PA, Irene Busia of Saugerties, NY, Kathleen (Scott) Kasper of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; grandchildren, Jeremy (Ann) Sheive, John (Carla) Hotler, Jill Hotler, Rev. Meggan (Adam) Nugent, Jennifer Busia, Michael Busia, Darby Kasper, and Evan Kasper; and great grandchildren, Kelly and Kara Sheive.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Saturday March 27, 2004 from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there Saturday evening at 8:00 PM.Lay Minister Jennifer Wolfe will officiate.John?s cremation will take place at South Port Crematorium, Inc., Southport, NY at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorials to The John P.
