Cummings, John William “Onefeather” age 72 longtime member of the Chemung county community passed away very unexpectedly Monday, January 7th, 2013. John was born July 7, 1940 in Middletown, NY. He was the son of the late James W. and Florence (Scholtz) Cummings. Surviving John is loving friend and wife Charline Cummings of Pine City; Daughter: Heather (Bill) Cox of Horseheads, NY; Grandchildren: Garrett, Colton Cox; Sister: Jessie Conrad of VA and nieces and nephews: Debra, William, Donna, Betty, Cheryl and families. Step Daughters: Kristine (Steve) Paciorek, Traci Hartke, (John Maloney) Teri (Glenn) Decker, Sara Kauffman (Scott Coxford). Step Grandchildren:Chase and Grayson Hartke, Trey Young, and Avery Decker. John worked for many years at Leprino Foods and most recently Seneca Beverage. He was deeply devoted to his family, friends, and the outdoors. He loved hunting, and fishing. He always enjoyed a good game of horseshoes or a game of pool, and appreciated fine antiques, and restored antique trunks. He was a loyal and dedicated member of the Caton Bible Chapel in Caton, NY.In service to his country John was a sharpshooter in the United States Army. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Caton Bible Chapel, 11297 Old County Rd. Corning, NY Friday, January 11th, 2013 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM and 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services celebrating John’s wonderful life will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours at 7:00PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 12th, 11:00AM at the Woodlawn National Cemetery. Pastor Jeffery Taylor will officiate with Military honors accorded to honor his service to our freedom. Those wishing may make leave a personal memory of John in obituaries at www.olthof.com.
