John M. Gray

Age 81 passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 18, 2009 with his family by his side at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Mr. Gray was born in Elmira in 1928, the son of the late Myron and Helen (Madden) Gray. John is survived by his son, John Gray II of Elmira; daughters, Darcy (Kathy Chapin) Gray of Pine City; Jenifer (Louis) Campbell of Breesport; granddaughter, Carissa; brothers, Harold (Donna) Wolfe of Big Flats; Arthur Wolfe of Horseheads; sister, Lucille Flenner of Florida; his two feline companions, Albino and Thumper. His wife, Janie Gray who passed away in 1992 and a daughter Tanya Gray who passed away in 1979 predeceased John. Mr. Gray worked for Chemung County Highway Department, retiring in 1991. Prior to that he was a managing partner for Gray-Wolfe Associates at the Horseheads Super Duper. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/ Southport NY on Thursday, October 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with funeral services officiated by Lay-Pastor John Knapp immediately following at 8 PM.Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Maple Grove Cemetery.
