John M. Hartman

Retired Owner/Operator of Clute Motor Co. and Hartman Lincoln-Mercury, age 75 of Elmira, NY, passed away February 14th, 2006 in the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.John was born August 31, 1930 in Sayre, Pa, the son of the late Myron and Ruth Hannah Hartman. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hartman of Owego, NY; sons, Myron (Michelle) Hartman of Elmira; Peter (Gayle) Hartman of Horseheads; daughter, Jenny Hartman of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, John Hartman; Lisa Green; Lori Seymour; brother, Thomas (Gail) Hartman of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Kay Hartman of Owego, NY; several nieces and nephews. His brother, Robert Hartman and granddaughter, Katherine Hartman, predeceased John. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904 on Friday, February 17th, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.In accordance with John?s wishes, funeral services will be held privately at a time convenient with the family. John was Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a very well known businessman throughout the area for many years. John was the owner of Clute Motor Co. for 22 years and Hartman Lincoln-Mercury-Mazda for 10years. Through his businesses he made many priceless friendships; each of which he valued greatly. He established a great work ethic, which resulted in a reputation second to none. John?s caring for his customers extended clearly through generations and is not found in today?s modern day automobile dealerships.
