John B. Mccarthy

John B. McCarthy Was born June 6, 1926 in Ridgebury Township, PA, the son of the late Frank and Julia (Wasnick) McCarthy, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. His grandson, JohnRobert Lantrip; sisters, Helen (Elmo) Owen and Louise Warren; and brother, Leo (Betty) McCarthy preceded him in death. John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marjorie "Marge" (Loop) McCarthy; daughter, Lori Lantrip of Phelps, NY with her children: Aubrianna Lantrip and Tyler Lantrip; brothers, Paul (Ann) McCarthy of Mansfield, PA and Francis (Shirley) McCarthy of Gillett, PA; sister-in-law, Frances Backer; along with numerous nieces and nephews. John was a Veteran of the US Army, proudly serving his country during WWII. He retired from General Electric after 40+ years of dedicated service. He was member of the BPOE Elks Lodge # 62 and a lifetime member of the Ridgebury Sportsman Club. John loved gardening and working on his lawn. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira/Southport, NY on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 2 PM. The Reverend John DeSocio will officiate. Interment will take place Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Woodlawn Cemetery, where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. McCarthy Military Honors and Father DeSocio will offer committal prayers.
