John R. Maynard

John was born December 29, 1944 in Elmira, the son of Jeanne E. Carr and Harold W. Maynard. Harold, and his loving father in life, John S. Carr, predeceased John. He is survived by his loving mother; sons, John (Carrie) Maynard Jr. {Christopher, Ashley, Matthew and Sydney} of Leola, PA; Michael (Kim) Maynard {Corey, Mallorie, Bailey and Nick} of Elmira, NY; daughters, Stacy Maynard {Sean} of Boston, MA; Kelly (Mark) Smith {Ethan, Abigail} of Elmira, NY; aunt, Dorothy (Bill) Hough of Elmira, NY; sisters, Joyce Bertozzi, Delores (Duane) Cleveland and Barb (John) Dunn; brother, Harold Web (Nellie) Maynard; along with the rest of his extended family including nieces, nephews and cousins. Many loving and caring friends and neighbors also survive John. John served his country in the USAF and retired from the Chemung County Sheriffs Department. He was also a member and past Commander of the American Legion Bentley Post # 443 in Elmira. It was Johns request that there be no prior calling hours and a burial in the Ashland Cemetery privately at the convenience of his family. Family and friends are invited to gather at the American Legion Bentley Post # 443 316 Lake Street Elmira, NY on March 5, 2008 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in celebration of Johns life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Johns name may be directed to St. Josephs Hospital 555 East Market Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to the American Legion Bentley Post # 443 316 Lake Street Elmira, NY 14901.
