John H. Shafer

Was born December 6, 1947 in Elmira, NY the son of Harold and Frances (Crum) Shafer, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his home. His father-in-law, Calvin Daugherty and brother-in-law, Roger Sterling predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Corinne; son, Michael of Elmira; parents, Harold and Fran of Pine City, NY; mother-in-law, Anna Daugherty of Milan, PA; sisters, Sandy Sterling, Barbara Shafer; brother, Thomas (Susan) Shafer; along with 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and many friends. John was the owner of J & C Wholesale Co. in Elmira. He loved the outdoors and working on his land. He also loved animals, especially his beloved dog, "Buck". His family and friends will be gathering at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services honoring his life will be held there on Thursday, April 22nd at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Michael Spencer will celebrate John's services.
