John Tyler Simpson, a native and resident of Elmira, NY, passed away tragically at only 27 years old on July 22, 2025.
John was employed with the Horseheads Pepsi Bottling Group. He was a dedicated employee and coworker. Despite his grueling work schedule, he always found time to spend with his beloved wife.
John and Lyric found each other while working at Southport McDonalds in their teenage years and built a life together. Some of their favorite activities included trying new restaurants, cruising on their motorcycle, playing video games, and listening to music. He was also a loving dog-dad to Freya who adored going on hikes, napping, and roughhousing with him.
John had many hobbies that included watching football; he was a Tennessee Titans fanatic and enjoyed organizing and being a part of fantasy football teams. He also collected Pokémon cards, and during nice weather you could find him with his friends Josh, Justin, Gary and occasionally his father-in-law Brian on the golf course.
He was a kind and well-loved man who was taken far too soon; he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by: his beloved wife Lyric Angel Osborne-Simpson; his mother Deborah "Deb" Simpson; his father James E. Simpson, III; his mother-in-law Crystal (Crippen) Osborne; his father-in-law Brian Osborne; his grandparents - Nancy Simpson, Donna Eastwood, Roger Eastwood, Sr. ; his siblings - James E. Simpson, IV, Ryan M. Barnum, Montanna M. Simpson, and half siblings - Dylan and Abram Simpson; his niece and nephews - Stanley III, Wyatt, Mira, and Noah; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John was preceded in death by his grandfather James E. Simpson, II and his grandmother Marjorie Eastwood.
