John Eugene Stevens

Age 87 of Horseheads, NY, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 10th, 2004. John was the son of the late Claude and Adeline Robinson Stevens. He was born in Elmira, NY on March 15th, 1916. Surviving John is his wife of 62 years, Irene Cram Stevens of Elmira; sons, Garry (Carole) Stevens of Cherry Creek, NY; David (Tina) Stevens of Horseheads, NY; daughters, Connie (Michael) Elston of Rocky Mount, Va and Pamela Stevens of Elmira; 7 grandchildren, Beth, Derek, Alicia, Wendy, Seneca, Jada, and Erin; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Quimby of Fl; Elsie Stevens of Horseheads; Betty (Donald) Noyes of Horseheads, and brother, Richard Stevens of Ga; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Eugene Frost family and William Cary family. John was predeceased by his sister, Frances Berry and brother, Chet Stevens. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Thursday, February 12th, 2004 from 1 to 2 PM.Funeral services will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours at 2 PM. The Reverend Eli Haber will officiate. Graveside committal prayers will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY.Full military honors will be accorded at the grave by the Chemung County Veteran?s Honor Squad. John was a retired truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Horseheads American Legion, Bentley Trumble Post, and member of the Chemung County Rod and Gun Club.
