Age 85 of Pauline Avenue Pine City, NY passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at home. He was born December 22, 1917 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late Reuben and Mary Barter Stugart. John is survived by his wife, Verda (Welch) Stugart; daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and John LaRocca of Springfield, VA; son and daughter-in-law, John and Joanne Stugart of Rotterdam, NY; son, Eugene Stugart of Elmira, NY; sisters, Mrs. Cora Fox of Cogan Station, PA; Mrs. Anna Mae Taber of Montoursville, PA; Mrs. Mary Carmel of Stanley, NY; Mrs. Velma Radka of Waterloo, NY; Mrs. Betty Buckley of Watkins Glen, NY; Mrs. Doris Klock of Hopewell, NY; Mrs. Ruby St. Germain of Romulus, NY; grandchildren, Lauren and Teresa LaRocca; Jenna and Jason Stugart; Rebecca and Shawn Stugart; along withseveral nieces and nephews. His brother, Gerald Stugart, preceded him in death. John was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country from 1939-1945. He retired from Corning Glass Works in 1982 after several years of dedicated service. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours (2:00 PM).Reverend Eli Haber will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Stugart full military honors at the grave.
