Age 69, of Cypress Street Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2004 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was born July 29, 1934 in Athens PA. Joseph was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Myrle and Edith (Briggs) Craft; father and stepmother, Stanley and Mary Raub; brother, Richard Craft. ?Joe? as he was affectionately known, is survived by his loving wife, Philomena ?Mena? (Girardi) Raub; beloved children, sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Michael and Mary Ellen Raub of Maryland; Shane Raub and friend Lana Miller of Elmira, NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Donald Bassett, Jennifer Roe and friend Brad Buell all of Elmira, NY; step-daughters and husbands, Nanette (Clark) and Carmen Guidi of Newfield, NY; Bernadette and Joseph Mowry, Suzette and Michael Ector all of Elmira, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley ?Ed? Raub of Elmira, NT; John and Sharon Craft all of Horseheads, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and John Stone of North Carolina; step-sister, Barbara Swan of Horseheads, NY; also survived and loved by 23 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; along with close friends, Jon and Gayle Early and children, Vickie and Jon, Janice and Halsey ?Buster? Chandler all of Florida; Bob Roe, Barb Girardi and ?Chi Chi?.?Joe? retired from Hardinge, Inc. in 1997 after 41 years of faithful and dedicated service as a machinist. Above everything else, he had an immense love for his family. His other loves included golf, hunting, fishing and woodworking. ?Joe? also had many friends at several local eating establishments. He was also very proud of his induction into the Sports Hall of Fame at Hardinge, Inc. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services honoring ?Joe?s? life will be held there following the visitation. (8:00 PM) The Reverend Richard Farrell will celebrate the service. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Children?s Miracle Network or to a favorite charity of your choice.
