Joseph A. Amentler, Jr.Age 78 of Chemung NY, passed away on Thursday February 21, 2013 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A., Sr. and Helen A. (Wagner) Amentler; and brother, George Amentler. He is survived by his loving wife of a 58 years, Cora M. Amentler; children, Donna M. (Arthur) DeVore, Anthony J. Amentler,(Michele Miles) Bruce A. (Sandy) Amentler, andWilliam P. Tice; daughter in-law Patricia Amentler; grandchildren, Kevin (Nicki) O’Toole, Melissa A. Amentler, Brittany M. Amentler, Bruce A. Amentler, Jr., Courtney M. Amentler, and Nicholas, Julianne and Kenzie Rose Amentler;great grandchildren, Patrick, Isabella, Kevin Michael, and Dylan O’Toole, Tiffany and Michael Amentler; brothers, Leon ( Eileen) Amentler, Jimmy Amentler, and Frank (Wanda) Amentler; sister in-law, Lauretta Amentler; and his faithful companion, “Ira”.Joseph was a member of the Old Timers Race Car club., an avid racing fan he enjoyed all forms of racing from NASCAR to Midget Racing, Joseph was a proof reader and writer for the racing column in the Star Gazette for several years. He retired from Dairylea Milk Plant after many years of service and also retired from GTP in Towanda, PA. Those wishing to, may make memorials to Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest 818 Fulton Street SE, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55414, in honor of his great grandson, PatrickO’Toole.
