Was born November 1, 1947 the son of the late Arthur and Mary Lucinda (Goff) Gott passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after an extended illness. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 21 years, P. Lynne Cole-Gott; beloved children, Adrienne (Chad) Jacoby of Bradenton, FL; Megan (Brennan) Barbier-Terry of Rochester, NY; Jannaya Scott (Andrew Hall) of Elmira, NY; Tony (Megan) Barbier of San Francisco, CA; adored grandchildren, Melaina and Jake Jacoby; John William Joseph and Jasmine Scott; Barrett Barbier; mother-in-law, Dorothy Orme-Scaggs; along with special friend, Connie Judd, best friend, Jim Donahoe, several other relatives, many friends and former wife, Elaine Ferrari. Joseph loved music and was a gifted pianist. He often volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital on the 5th floor and played the piano for Mass. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Samaritan Center. Joseph also loved to read and took great pleasure in gardening. He had a great sense of humor, loved people and could always get you to laugh by telling one of his many corny jokes. At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in St. Patrick's Blessed Sacrament Church 604 Park Place Elmira, NY at 12:00 (noon). The Reverend Richard Farrell will celebrate Joseph's Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Animal Shelter and SPCA Route # 352 Elmira, NY 14903 or to the Chemung County Head Start, ATTN: Bill Brodginski, 650 Baldwin Street Elmira, NY 14901 in his memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY. A 'Candle of Remembrance' may be left for the family in obituaries atwww.olthof.com
