Josephine (Card) Smith Age 94, born December 11, 1922 in Millerton, PA, the daughter of the late Noel and Celia (Peterson) Card, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. On October 3, 1942, Josephine married Marion Smith. Prior to his death in 2014 they celebrated 71 wonderful years of life and love together. Her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Card and Wilber Friends; sister, Hilda Allen; brother, Nils Card; sister and brother-in-law, Celia Card and William Wakeman; brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Fannie Card and sister, Helena Card also preceded her in death. Josephineis survived by her five loving children: son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jean Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dennis Packard, daughter, Peggy Congdon, daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Runyan, son and daughter-in-law, David and Gina Smith; along with 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Card; and several nieces and nephews. Josephine was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed nature, loved birds, especially feeding them, and enjoyed gardening. Services will be held privately at a later date and time in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
