Joyce M. King Was born August 28, 1922 in Elmira, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Elizabeth (Rockwell) King, passed away peacefully surrounded by her angels on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at her home. Her lifelong friend Elsie E. Stevens preceded her in death November 8, 2015. Joyce graduated from Elmira College in 1940 then went on to New York University for a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and worked at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC before starting her career at Corning Glass Works, becoming one of the first female executives there. She retired as an Executive from Corning Inc. A special thank you goes out to the Chemung County Health Department, especially Lisa Dipadua Buckley and Stephanie Robbins for all of their help and wonderful care and also to Jackie Morgan for singing Joyce's favorite song, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Her services will be held privately. She will be laid to rest with her beloved parents in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA 2435 Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903 or to the Arnot Ogden Medical Center NICU 600 Roe Ave. Elmira, NY 14905.
