Joyce S. Oldroyd

Age 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy, PA.She was born in Elmira on May 7, 1931 to the late Jesse & Mabel (Dewey) Strong.Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George Oldroyd; children, Denny (Nancy) Oldroyd of Gillett, PA, Chuck (Lori) Oldroyd, Sr. of Gillett, PA, Scott (Marla) Oldroyd of Troy, PA; grandchildren, Chuck Jr., Jared, Jess, Jennifer, Lindsay, Brent, Robbie, Marcus, and Matthew; sister, Betty Scheufele.She worked at American LaFrance, Oldroyd?s Truck Stop, and American Silk Label in Troy, PA.Joyce sang in Choirs since she was a child, and held many jobs within the church.She belonged to TOPS 1161.Joyce?s life revolved around her love of her grandchildren, who will always remember the special times shared around the swimming pool and those special sandwiches that only Grandma Joyce could make.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Saturday, March 18, 2006 from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 8 PM with funeral services there at 8:00 PM.The Reverend Don Rockwell will officiate.Interment will be in Gillett Cemetery at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Fassett Baptist Church, RR# Box 92, Gillett, PA 16925-9533.Those wishing may leave a ?Candle of Remembrance? for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com .
