Age 77, of Elmira, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. Her marriage to the Reverend Marlin B. Stewart took place on July 10, 1954. She was his faithful wife and partner in ministry through several parishes in Pennsylvania and New York. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 34 years, but after her husband's retirement as pastor of that church she attended the Lake Street Presbyterian Church. Judy loved music, sang in the choirs of both churches and for a time was organist at Westminster. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists and was an able assistant to David Peckham in the tuning of organs. She was also for a time a member of the Park Church Bell Choirs. Judy's love of music was also shown through her hobby of stamp collecting. She was a member of the Elmira Stamp Club. Her exhibit on organs, organists and composers for organs won gold medals at various area exhibitions. She worked at the Giving Tree in the Arnot Mall for many years and was active in the Council of Churches and RSVP Bone Builders program, she was also an avid flower gardener. Judy is survived by Marlin, her husband of 53 years; a daughter, Pamela (Mr. Thomas Gerow); and three sons; Bruce of Raleigh, NC, Mark (Carolyn) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Christopher (Ellen) of New Cumberland, PA, as well as seven grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm. A service of worship and remembrance will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1009 Maple Avenue, Elmira, NY, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11 am.
