Was born June 14, 1920 in Altoona, PA the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Butoni) Taggi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. In 1946 Julius married Elizabeth Dlugosh, prior to her passing November 27, 2006, they celebrated 60 wonderful years of life and love together. His brothers, Augustine Augi and Albert Al Taggi also predeceased him. Julius is survived by his beloved children, Richard Taggi; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Timothy Hewitt; Sharon and Dale Culver; much-loved grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Hewitt, Kathryn Hewitt and Patrick Hewitt; Seth Culver and Nathan Culver. Julius was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country from 1942 to 1946 during WW II. He retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility after 33 dedicated years as a Corrections Officer. Tag, as he was affectionately known, was an avid gardener, a skilled craftsman, enjoying woodworking and construction. He was also an accomplished exterior and interior painter of homes. Because of the great love Julius and Elizabeth had one for the other and the fact they did everything together, family and friends are invited to attend a joint Memorial Mass honoring both of their lives on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 130 Oakwood Avenue, Elmira Heights, NY, 14903. Interment will take place on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Woodlawn National Cemetery 1825 Davis Street Elmira, NY where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Taggi Military Honors.
