June M. Jones

Was born August 12, 1923 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Berlew) Gower, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November, 25, 2012 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility at the age of 89. Her loving husband, Robert D. Jones, brother, Arthur Gower and sister, Sally Mucci preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Betty Smith; sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert D. and Cheryl Jones Jr.; Arthur "Bud" and Carol Jones; David and Jan Jones; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. June resided on Woodbine Avenue in the Town of Southport since 1949. She was a waitress at the Elmira Bowling Center from the very first day it opened until its doors were closed. June worked hard her entire life and had a marvelous sense of humor up to the very end. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial services celebrating June's life and honoring her memory will follow the visitation at 8 PM. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Robert. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society of the Southern Tier 13 Beech Street Johnson City, New York 13790 in her memory.
