JUNE L.VAN NESS Town of Southport ResidentWas born August 7, 1939 in Troupsburg, NY the daughter of the late Alvah and Ida (Polk) Thompson, passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at her home at the age of 68. June was married to Ronald R. Jack Van Ness, prior to his death June 5, 2005 they celebrated 46 years of life and love together. Her sisters, Eva McCarthy and Wilda Rearick; brothers, Edward, John D. and Duane Hackett and most recently her beloved grandson, Sean L. Van Ness also predeceased her. She is survived by her loving sons and daughter-in-laws, Wayne and Wendy Van Ness of Horseheads, NY; Dennis and Linda Van Ness of Elmira, NY; Charles and Sue Van Ness of Erin, NY; David and Michelle Van Ness of Elmira, NY; adored grandchildren, Steven, Jonathan, Rick, Bryan, Joshua, Jeremy, Jennette, Amy, Mallory, Libby, Zackary, Jeffrey, Taylor and Kailyn; sister, Joni (Dan) Sweeney of Mehoopany, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. For many years June was a real estate agent for Watts reality, later retiring from Trayer Products with 20 + years of dedicated service as an inspector. She was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Club and member of the VFW Rex Field Post # 901 Ladies Auxiliary both of Elmira. June loved going to rummage sales and enjoyed sewing and crafting. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held there following the visitation at 4 PM. The Reverend Robert Rundall will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.an Olthof service
