Kathleen M. Giffune

Age 67 of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Oneonta, NY,Elmira, NYPassed away on Wednesday August 24, 2011 in Naperville, Illinois. She was born on January 6, 1944 in Sidney, NY, the daughter of the late Louis P. and Martha Elwood Grasso. She is survived by her husband, Joseph (Bill) Giffune; her daughter, Michele Marie Giffune of Chicago, Illinois; sisters, Connie (Carol) Nolan and her husband Bruce and Patricia Sours and her husband Steve; brothers, Michael, Robert, Gerry and wife Deb, and David and wife Becky Grasso;her special aunt, Minnie (Mary) Farmer;her uncle, Boo (Bob) Elwood and his wife Fannie;. also brothers and sisters in-law, James and wife Mary Ellen Giffune and Paul and wife Eva Giffune alsonumerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Along with her parents she was predeceased byher sister, Barbara Grasso in 1964.Katy graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1962, the University of New York at Buffalo in 1967 with a BA degree, and received her Master's from Elmira College in 1971. She was an award winning artist in water colors and life drawing;her other interests included: interior design, landscape design and real estate development. Katy was a loving wife, mother, sister and best friend to many. She had a lively sense of humor and kept her upbeat positive attitude thru her two year battle with cancer. She will be missed by all those who knew her. The family will receive friends at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Tuesday August 30, 2011 from 4:00 PM To 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AMat Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W. Church St., Elmira, NY, followed by Graveside Services in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
