Age 81, of Glen Street, Gillett, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2005, very unexpectedly at the Corning Hospital. He was born August 25, 1923 in Troupsburg, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Waite) Mattison. His brother, Beryle Mattison, also predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dortha M. (Kohler) Mattison; daughter, Esther Whalen and son, Wayne Mattison, both of Lititz, PA; step-son, Harold (Bonnie) Heeman of Dundee, NY; step-daughter, Helen DeHaas of Presho, NY; brothers, Elwood Mattison of Genesse, PA; Craig Mattison of Big Flats, NY; sisters, Myra Baker of Troupsburg, NY; Eleanor Mattison of Hornell, NY; sister-in-law, Helen Mattison of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Michael, April and Michelle Whalen; Chris (Jessica) Heeman; Mary (Steve) Brace; John (Melinda) Morrison; Spencer (Kristen) Morrison; along with 8 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, friends and especially his dog, ?Lily? , that he loved dearly. Kenneth retired from Moore Business Forms after 39 dedicated years as a cutter. He was a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during WW II. He was a member of the Horseheads Moose Lodge # 1476 since 1978. In his sparetime he greatly enjoyed his word search books, square dancing, and camping. Kenneth took great pleasure in all sports, but his greatest love was for football. While living in Florida, he enjoyed working for Winn-Dixie and being a crossing guard with his beloved Dortha. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services celebrating Kenneth?s life will follow the visitation. (7:00 PM) The Reverend Charles Root will officiate. Interment will take place on Thursday, January 27 at 1:00 PM in the Gillett, PA Cemetery, where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Mattison full Military Honors.
