Kenneth (Ken) W. Ernest

Ernest, Kenneth (Ken) W.Age 81, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2014.The Lord knew Ken's heart could not handle all of the post surgical stress and called him home.Ken was born on February 13, 1934, the son of the late Oscar S. and Jennie (Houser) Ernest. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn (Kay) of 21 years; step daughter, Judy Alvas; step sons Terry and Mickey Couse; sister, Flora (John) Newton; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Lawrence, James and Robert Ernest and sister Betty Brown. Ken was a devoted long time member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church and served over 60 years in the Southport Volunteer Fire Department.He also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and Brand Park.Ken retired after 39 years at Schweizer Aircraft. Heserved honorably in the U.S. Army as a Master Tank Gunner. Family and friends will gather at the New Beginings United Methodist Church 300 East Miller Street Elmira, NY to celebrate Ken's life, Friday, August 22, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A Memorial Service honoring Ken's life will folow the visitation. Pastor Leanne Zeck will officiate. If you wish, you may remember Ken with a memorial gift to his church.
