Lahja Johanna Tuning

Tuning, Lahja J. (Nurmi) Age 87, formerly of Elmira, NY, passed away quietly on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, George L. Tuning in 1994. She was the daughter of William and Aili Nurmi. Lahja was born on January 27, 1923 in Ilmajaki, Finland. Her surviving family includes her daughters and son, Viola (Ronald) Hartman of Elmira, NY, Joan Tuning of SC, and Robert (Sharon) Tuning of Elmira, NY; twin brother, Arvo Nurmi of Barre, MA, and Allan (Theresa) Nurmi of Fairfield, CA; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, calling hours will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following immediately at Bethany Lutheran Church, 256 South Walnut Street, Elmira, NY. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Pastor Abigail Hoffman will be presiding.
