Was born January 9, 1939 in Mount Kisco, NY the son of the late Earle V. and Doris (Crabb) Wade passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center with his immediate family at his side at the age of 68. In November 1974, Larry married Marion Susie Sampsell; they have enjoyed 32 wonderful years of devotion and love with each other. His survivors include: loving wife, Susie; daughters, Kirsten Wade and Christopher Youngs and their children of St. James, MO; Kimberly M. Wade of Elmira, NY; son, Nicholas and Anna Sampsell of Millerton, PA and his children; also the children of his first marriage, William, Richard and Donna Lynn Wade; long-time friend, Robert Weir of Chemung, NY; canine companions, Ito, Ari, Pugsley and Wally Brutus; feline companion, Mama. Larry retired from the New York State Department of Corrections as Sergeant in 1991, after many years of dedicated service. He then was employed by the Elmira Star Gazette working in the circulation department retiring in 2004, after 10 years of devoted service. At his request there will be no prior visitation. Family and friends will gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM to honor his life and celebrate his memory. The Reverend William Lutz will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Trinity Episcopal Church 304 North Main Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to a charity of ones choice in memory of Larry.
