Lawrence E. Monks

Age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on March 30, 2012, surrounded by his family after an extended illness.Lawrence was the son of Edward C. and Ethel (Smith) Monks.He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Clarence Monks and his sister, Marion Gillmer.He is survived by his brother, Gordon L. Monks.Lawrence was a long time resident of Pine City and served honorably in the Pacific Theater with the Army Air Corps during WW II.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 11 AM. Reverend Donn Hauser will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Monks military honors.
