Leon Husisian, of Elmira, New York, passed away at his home on February 28, 2013 after a short, unexpected bout with cancer.He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his two children, Greg and Jeff; and his six grandchildren, Peter, Hadley, Eric, Katelyn, Jason, and Andrew.Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on December 2, 1938, he graduated from Worcester Classical High School in 1956.After graduating from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1960, he began his career as an engineer at Corning, Inc., after serving in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant.A long-time entrepreneur, Leon was the owner of the Elmira Judo School from 1967 through 1972, and owned numerous apartment houses in Elmira.Since 1985, he owned and operated the Magic Car Washes (formerly AutoMagic) in Elmira Heights, Vestal, and Binghamton with Nancy.He loved tinkering with his car washes and spent many hours greeting his many customers, many of whom he knew by name.When he was not at the car washes, he spent just as many hours regaling his friends and family with his numerous stories.Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 3rd, and for funeral services on Monday, March 4th, at noon.Visitation and services will be held at Olthof Funeral Home at 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport.A military funeral will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira immediately after the services on Monday, for the interment of Leon alongside his daughter, Christine, who died in 2006.
