Leona E. Tobias

LEONA E.TOBIAS,Formerly of River View Circle Was born November 27, 1917 in Ithaca, NY the daughter of the late Oscar and Eva (Grover) Arthur passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY at the age of 91. Her loving husband of 37 years, Tony Tobias predeceased her. Her sisters, Vera Miller, Waneta Andrews; brother, Bud Arthur also preceded her in death. Leona is survived by her loving and devoted children and their spouses, Ron and Terry Tobias of Elmira, NY; Richard and Janet Tobias of Florida; Jan and Warren Roman of Elmira, NY; Carol and Jim Piper of Elmira, NY; adored grandchildren, Kari (Mike) Wood, Melanie Tobias Jacob); Kelly (Hal) Neshiem, Steven Driscoll, Christine (Travis) Tobias-McAlexander; Warren (Penny) Roman, Jen (Jason) Quick, Matt (Lisa) Roman, Melinda (Cormac) Smith; Jimmy Piper (Christine), Aimee Piper, Joe Piper, Don Piper; along with 20 much-loved great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Leona was the former owner of Kings Dairy here in Elmira. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and life-member of the following: OES # 264, F & AM Loyal Order of the Moose, Grottoettes and the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154. Services are being held privately at the convenience of her family. Interment will take place also at the convenience of her family in the Woodlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Tony. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad c/o the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post 236 Scottwood Ave. Elmira Heights, NY 14903.
