Was born January 1, 1940 in Elmira, NY the son of Leslie E. and Rena (Snyder) Marshall Sr. passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center at the age of 69. Leslie married Maryann T. Rossi May 25, 1961 in Elmira and celebrated 48 wonderful years of life and love together prior to her death March 16, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Sr. and Rena; brother, Jimmy Marshall. His survivors include: loving children, Debra L. (Randy) Marsh of Elmira, NY; James A. (Monica) Marshall of Wellsburg, NY; Lesley A. (John P.) Knapp of Elmira, NY; John S. (Kristine Pauline) Marshall of Horseheads, NY; much loved grandchildren, Ryan Marsh (fiancée Katrina Plate), Sean Marsh, Blake Marshall, Nicole Graham, Amanda Graham, Amanda Knapp (fiancée Caleb Drake), Allison Knapp, Ashley Knapp and Emily Marshall; sister-in-law, Jacqueline (Rudolph) Parker of Elmira Heights, NY; nieces, Shannon (Randy) Moore and Kelly Cogswell; along with great nieces, Samantha and Ayla Cogswell; great nephews, Brandon Parker and Bryon Champagne. John was a former employee of American LaFrance in Elmira and Ward LaFrance in Elmira Heights. He retired from the Hungerford Corp. in Big Flats after several years of dedicated service. He was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country. John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and was an outstanding bow hunter. He loved nature and the outdoors and especially loved spending time on his deck with his coffee and the sunshine. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services celebrating his life will follow the visitation at 4 PM. His son-in-law, John will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM where he will be laid to rest with his beloved Maryann. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Military Honors to Mr. Marshall following the Committal Service.
