Lewis Edwin Schlick

Lewis Edwin Schlick, 90, of Elmira, NY, formerly of Newtown Street, born August 28, 1924, son of Lewis D. and Edna (Marvin) Schlick passed away peacefully to his Saviour, Jesus, on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Chemung County Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Fay (Higginbotham) Schlick (2012); sisters: Arlene Taylor, Helen Shriver and Mary Stewart. He is survived by his children: daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Pastor Charles Cole of Sunbury, PA; son, Thomas E. Schlick of Vestal, NY; grandchildren: Jeanette (Paul)Brosious, Julie (Jason) Fikkert, Jodi Cole and Jeffrey Cole; great grandchildren, Emmalynn, Paulie and Curtis Brosious; Megan and Justin Fikkert. Lew was a faithful member of the Maple Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from the Chemung County Highway Department. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving his country from 1943 - 1946, receiving theAmerican Service Medal, Europe-African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and theWorld War II Victory Medal. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and at Ardenne Forest. Services will be held privately at the convenience of his family at a later date.
