Lola went to meet her Lord and loved ones in heaven on Thursday, March 1, 2012. She was born in Elmira, NY on August 23, 1936 to William T. and Olive L. (Craven) Lloyd. Lola was a long time resident of Southport, living in the same house for more than 50 years. Lola was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Theodore W. Lloyd, her first husband, Ralph L. Dennison in 1977 and her second husband, Roger L. Herrick in 2006. Her half brother, Aaron Shroyer and her half sister, Arlene Brenza also preceded her in death. Lola is survived by her three children, Carol (Fred) Purdue, Michael (Rosemary) Dennison and Julie (Ken Elston) Baldwin; her grandchildren, Scott Purdue, Stephanie (Andrew Walsh) Purdue, Michael Adam (Mary) Dennison, Randi Marie (Andrew Yessman) Baldwin, Christopher (Jessica Roupp) Baldwin and Andrew Dennison; her great grandson, Mark Nicholas (Baldwin) Humphries, who was the sunshine of her life, also survives her; along with several step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews who also survive her. Lola enjoyed meeting and chatting with people, which made her successful in the positions she held. She enjoyed being a waitress at McCrory's in the mall, Light's Bake Shop and for 20 years at Curly's Chicken House. She also worked at the Mohawk Market in the bakery department and then at "Little Mo" in downtown Elmira. Her last position was at Tops Friendly Markets on South Main Street where she was a cashier and worked in the U-Scan for several years before being forced to retire last year because of her health. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY. Calling hours will be held there on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM with funeral services following the visitation. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate. Lola will be laid to rest in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Redding Center next to her husband Roger at the convenience of her family. Memorial donations to the Southern Tier Hospice "Breath" program or to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA will be great appreciated in lieu of flowers.
