Louise E. Shoemaker

Shoemaker, Louise E. (Vogel) Age 97, born in Elmira, NY on November 21, 1917 to the late Marie (Rumpmeyer) and Herman Vogel, passed away peacefully at the Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC on Thursday, October 15, 2015. Her loving husband: Sidney Shoemaker; brothers: Herman, Frank, Ludwig, William and Emil Vogel; sister: Marie Parpestis preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved children: daughter and son-in-law: Marlene and Melvin Gray of Murphy, NC; son and daughter-in-law: Philip and Sue Shoemaker of Winter Park, FL; along with 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Louise was a faithful member of the First United Church of Christ where her parents were the founding members. She was also a member of the American Legion Elmira Heights Post #154 Ladies Auxiliary. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Funeral services celebrating her life will follow the visitation at 1 PM. Reverend Beth Firgard will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY.
