Age 90, of Elmira, NY passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Lucille was born August 3, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Carl and Alice (Brown) Ackerman of Sayre, PA. She was the wife of James A. Davenport, who predeceased her in August of 2008. Lucille and James were married on May 23, 1941 and celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing. Lucille is survived by her children, Judith (Robert) Callene of Lakes Wales, FL; James W. (Bonnie) Davenport, Nancy Sabatura and Gary(Mary) Davenport all of Elmira, NY; daughter-in-law, Diane Davenport of Horseheads, NY; 9 grandchildren, Regina Noyes, Ralph Arnold, Michele Dixon, Andrea Rousseau, Janelle Oshetski, Sean Davenport, Jozef Sabatura, Nikolas Sabatura, Anya Sabatura, Richard Callene, Scott Woodhouse and Andrew Woodhouse; along with 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews family and friends. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, James, her son, John Davenport, brother, Edwin Ackerman and sister, Barbara Luchaco. Lucille graduated Valedictorian of her class at Sayre High School and retired from the Social Security Administration. She along with her husband were members of the Seneca Power and Sail Squadron, where she was a member of the Seneca Mates and the Southern Tier Yacht Club, PEN-NY Mixers RV Club and the Raccoon Cruisers. She also served as a Volunteer at the Arnot Ogden Ladies Auxiliary where she knit for the Newborn nursery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services to follow under the direction of Reverend Ross Raymond. Interment will take place in the Tioga Point Cemetery at the convenience of her family, where "Lucy" will be laid to rest with her beloved James. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in Lucille's name. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
