Lucille I. Smith

Age 85, of Bonview Street Elmira, NY went home to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1919 in Harrison Valley, PA the daughter of the late Alonzo and Edna (Beckhorn) Wheaton.She was preceded by her husband Willard J. Smith and daughter, Bonnie Pratt. She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lydia Smith of Elmira, NY; Willard and Janet Smith of Pine Valley, NY; Timothy Smith of Elmira, NY; loving daughter and sons-in-law, Katherine and Lon Mattoon of Elmira, NY; Joyce and Ken Oliver of Bath, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Wilford and Lois Wheaton of Westfield, PA; sister, Ileane Gee of Elmira, NY; sister-in-law, Lenarda Wheaton of Bradford, NY; brother-in-law, William Van Woert of Red Bluff, CA; along with 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Lucille retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility after many years of dedicated service as a nurse?s aide. She enjoyed her family and friends, opening her home to others in the most hospitable way. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Lucille?s life on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Elmira Christian Center, 235 East Miller Street, Elmira, NY at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Belvy White will officiate. The family will provide their own flowers. In keeping with her spirit of generosity, memorial donations may be directed to the Elmira Christian Academy to help needy families. Envelopes will be available at the church.
