MATTICHAK, Madeleine "Madge" (Carpentier) (Hunt) Age 83, born April 15, 1932 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Thomas and Annette (Glazier) Carpentier, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015. Madge was a 1950 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and remained actively involved with the Class of 1950.She worked as an executive secretary during her professional years, primarily for the Elmira City School District and the Elmira Psychiatric Center, but also after retirement for Grace and St. Matthew's Episcopal Churches, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Near Westside Neighborhood Association.She was a co-founder of the Interfaith Hospitality Center at the Elmira Correctional Facility in 1996 and remained as secretary/chair until August of 2015. Madge also volunteered at the North Presbyterian Food Pantry weekly. She is survived by daughters, Kim (Richard) Richardson and Tammy (Gary) Seeley; brother and sister-in-law, Philip (Lynda) Carpentier; sister-in-law, Marlene Carpentier; and grand-daughters, Jessica and Emily Dancer. Predeceased by brother, Robert Carpentier. A Solemn Requiem Mass will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 375 W. Church Street, Elmira, NY on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 5:00 PM. Reverend Don Matthews will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in the Grace Church Columbarium in St. Michael's Chapel. Madge was an avid reader and, if desired, memorial gifts may be made to the Steele Memorial Library, 101 E. Church St., Elmira, NY 14901.
