Marcella Amelia Gustafson

Was born June 8, 1916 in Newcastle, IN the daughter of the late Charles and Estella (Goosman) Prendergast, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Tioga Nursing Facility in Waverly, NY at the age of 90. On October 21, 1950 she married Raymond C. Gustafson, at the time of his retirement he was treasurer of the Corning Natural Gas Corp. Raymond passed away August 7, 1975. Marcella was educated through the Elmira City School District. Her employment included the following: Legal Secretary for the Mandeville Law Firm from 1934 to 1956, Corning Inc. from 1957 to 1981, at her retirement was the Assistant Secretary of Corning Inc., Corning Foundation and the Corning Museum of Glass. For many years, Marcella was a faithful member of the North Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her loving niece, Patricia (Fred Fritz) Paul of Waverly, NY; great nephews, Jeffrey Paul of Duncack, MD; Craig (Michelle) Paul and Eric Paul all of Warrenton, PA; great niece, Karen (Glenn) Benson of Wurtsboro, NY; great great niece, Carlye Benson also of Wurtsboro, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held there following the visitation. (2 PM) Reverend Gary Chorpenning will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
