CARLIN, Margaret “Peggy”Age, 90, formerly of Elmira, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Crowne Health Care in Montgomery, Alabama. Margaret was born on June 22, 1922 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late John and Jane (Williamson) McNamee. She married James Carlin on July 18, 1947 in Glasgow, Scotland after meeting while serving during World War II in the British Royal Air Force. Margaret was so proud of her service to her country and had many stories to tell about that time in her life. James and Margaret immigrated to the United States in 1947. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband James in January 2003 and her three siblings, George Daly McNamee, Arabella Graham (McNamee) Lynch and William Edward McNamee. She is survived by her only child James D. (Linnea) Carlin of Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, James A. (Elizabeth) Carlin of Bangkok, Thailand and Krista L. Carlin of Montgomery, AL. Margaret was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Harmony-Loyal Chapter # 265 in Elmira as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 941 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked in retail sales and was an avid shopper always looking for a great bargain. She loved to bowl and played on several leagues.
