Margaret H. Gilbert

Of Elmira, NY was called home by the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 2010. She went peacefully and is now reunited with her husband John Gilbert, who predeceased her on February 1, 1983. Margaret was born on December 10, 1917 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Michael J. Keough and Ethel Bacon Keough. She was a long-time employee of Nichols Discount Store and a member of St. Peter and Paul's Church (Blessed Sacrament Parish). Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very special lady to all who knew her, small in stature but a tower of strength and kindness. She dedicated herself to her family and friends. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children Bill (Bonnie) Gilbert of Cedar Bluff, AL, Nick (Donna) Gilbert of Lafayette, LA, Peggy (Terry) Pedersen of Lakewood, CO, and Debbie (George) Mekos of Elmira, NY; her eleven grandchildren; Kyle, Megan, John, Mike, Rick, Nick, Kim, Alyssa, Kristen, Alex and Amy; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to call Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY from 6 to 8 PM.
